Customer AI Engineer

Job Summary

The Customer AI Engineer acts as the main technical liaison between enterprise clients and the product team at a YC-backed AI startup, handling hands-on engineering tasks with significant customer interaction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, responding promptly to inquiries and managing issue resolution end-to-end.
• Lead the technical onboarding process by assisting enterprise customers with setup, configuration, and integration using tools such as Zendesk, Intercom, and HubSpot.
• Diagnose and fix complex problems in live customer environments.
• Write and deploy code fixes, integration improvements, and minor features within the Node.js and TypeScript codebase.
• Collaborate with the product engineering team by providing customer insights, escalating systemic issues, and helping prioritize development tasks.
• Develop deep expertise in AI agents and prompt engineering to advise customers on optimizing support operations.
• Document recurring issues, solutions, and integration patterns to enhance internal knowledge and customer resources.

Requirements

• 2-3+ years of software engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including production code delivery.
• Practical experience with AI agents and prompt engineering.
• Previous technical customer-facing experience such as onboarding or debugging integrations in a SaaS context.
• Good understanding or quick learning ability of helpdesk APIs like Zendesk, Intercom, and HubSpot.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills, including confident video call interactions with enterprise stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment focused on speed and customer impact.
• Capability to support customers across US, EU, MENA, and GCC time zones.
