Consultant – Fire & Life Safety

Job Summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Consultant – Fire & Life Safety for their Riyadh office to provide technical consultations on fire protection and life safety systems for large-scale projects across the region, ensuring compliance with Saudi Building Code and international standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical input and consultation on fire and life safety systems including fire detection and alarm systems, water-based suppression systems, clean agent extinguishing systems, smoke control systems, and passive fire protection systems for complex projects.
• Prepare and support design submissions, calculations, and Fire & Life Safety Strategy reports in coordination with senior engineers while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
• Support verification that designs and installations comply with applicable Saudi and international fire and life safety codes and standards through audits, site inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Support fire risk assessments and hazard analyses and contribute to developing mitigation strategies for complex and high-profile projects.
• Assist with integrated testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systems to ensure compliance with regulatory, client, and design requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients, and government authorities to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
• Mentor and guide junior and graduate consultants while promoting knowledge sharing and best practice in fire safety engineering.
• Contribute to bid submissions and proposals, attend client meetings, and support WSP’s representation at industry and client events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field such as Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Architecture.
• 4-7 years of experience in fire life safety or protection engineering consulting.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 and SBC 801), international codes, and standards including UAE, IBC, NFPA, and BS.
