Assistant Resident Engineer – MEP (Data Centre Construction)

Job Summary

WSP Middle East is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to provide site-based supervision of MEP systems on a large-scale data centre project in the Riyadh region. The role oversees construction delivery, quality, compliance, and coordination of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, ELV, and ICT systems from mobilisation through commissioning and handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site supervision of MEP works across all project phases
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, and adherence to project specifications and approved drawings
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions
• Oversee installation of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, ELV, and ICT systems with focus on mission-critical design requirements
• Act as key interface between client, EPC contractor, consultants, and internal teams to resolve technical and site-related issues
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, inspection protocols, and compliance with project specifications and local regulations
• Promote safety culture and monitor compliance with WSP and client HSE policies
• Track progress against schedule, provide regular reports, and support commissioning and handover activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• 15+ years of experience with strong exposure to data centre and mission-critical projects
• Proven experience in construction supervision and site-based roles
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and data centre infrastructure including power, cooling, and ICT
• Experience working with EPC contractors and large-scale developments
• Prior experience in the Middle East, preferably Saudi Arabia
