Job Summary
The Application Architect is responsible for defining and evolving the enterprise application architecture to support business capabilities, digital transformation, integration, security, and enterprise standards. The role involves assessing current applications, designing target architectures, optimizing the application portfolio, and ensuring alignment with enterprise technology direction.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise application architecture aligned with business strategy and enterprise architecture.
- Assess current application landscape including platforms, interfaces, dependencies, and lifecycle status.
- Define target-state application architecture and transition roadmaps for business and digital initiatives.
- Map applications to business capabilities, services, processes, data domains, and technology platforms.
- Identify duplication, overlaps, gaps, technical debt, and rationalization opportunities in the application portfolio.
- Support application modernization, replacement, consolidation, retirement, and cloud migration efforts.
- Define application architecture principles, standards, patterns, and reference architectures.
- Collaborate with various architects to ensure coherent end-to-end architectures and participate in governance and review boards.
Requirements
- 8-10 years of experience in application development, software engineering, solution design, or application architecture.
- 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Application Architecture or a similar senior architecture role.
- Experience assessing and designing complex enterprise application landscapes.
- Experience with application modernization, rationalization, integration, cloud adoption, or digital transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of enterprise application patterns, APIs, services, integration, and distributed architectures.
- Experience working with senior business stakeholders, project teams, developers, vendors, and architecture governance bodies.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, UML, BPMN, and architecture concepts like microservices and cloud-native architectures.
- Exposure to enterprise architecture tools, API management, containerization, cloud platforms, and application portfolio management tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- TOGAF certification is highly desirable; ArchiMate and cloud or DevOps certifications are advantageous.
