Job Summary

This consultancy supports UNICEF in enhancing education data systems and evidence generation to enable data-driven decisions on key education priorities globally. The role focuses on improving education data quality, integration, analysis, and evidence products to inform advocacy and policy.

Responsibilities

• Enhance availability, quality, and use of education data.
• Strengthen connections with Education Management Information Systems (EMIS).
• Support integration and analysis of education data.
• Develop evidence products to guide UNICEF’s education advocacy, programming, and policy engagement.

Must haves

• Master’s Degree in Education, Statistics, or related social science fields.
• At least five years of professional experience in education data, statistics, monitoring, evaluation, research, or related areas.
• Proven experience working with EMIS or similar education data platforms.
• Experience analyzing education administrative data and producing policy-focused analytical outputs.
• Experience collaborating with Ministries of Education, governments, or international organizations.
• Proficiency in English.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Good understanding of education data systems, EMIS, and data lifecycle management.
• Ability to quickly learn new thematic areas and synthesize evidence.
• Capability to link data across education topics and identify cross-sectoral insights.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Ability to convert technical analysis into clear policy messages.

Nice to haves

• Experience in education statistics and system monitoring.
• Knowledge of disability-inclusive education data.
• Experience with education in emergencies.
• Familiarity with secondary education and skills development.
• Experience with regional (preferably Africa) or global education monitoring initiatives.
• Proficiency in other UN languages.
