Senior Design Engineer – Solar PV

Job Summary

The Senior Design Engineer – Solar PV at Philadelphia Solar LLC leads the design and engineering of Solar PV projects, ensuring solutions are technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant from design through execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale Solar PV systems.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, detailed, and IFC design packages.
• Prepare and review PV layouts, Single Line Diagrams, electrical drawings, cable routing, and equipment layouts.
• Perform PV system simulations and energy yield assessments using PVsyst.
• Select and evaluate PV system components including modules, inverters, mounting structures, trackers, transformers, and switchgear.
• Coordinate with Procurement, suppliers, Project Management, Construction, Sales, and other teams to ensure compliance and smooth project execution.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning, resolving design-related site issues and RFIs.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain internal design standards and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Solar PV design and engineering.
• Experience with commercial, industrial, and/or utility-scale Solar PV projects.
• Strong knowledge of PV system design, electrical systems, and renewable energy technologies.
• Proficiency with PVsyst and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of PV system sizing, SLDs, electrical layouts, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, BOQ/BOM preparation, and component selection.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, written and spoken.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.

Nice to haves

• Experience with Helioscope, SketchUp, Civil 3D, or other design software.
• Knowledge of NEPCO grid requirements and Jordanian grid codes.
• Experience with BESS.
• Experience in large-scale Solar PV projects, EPC environments, PV manufacturing, project execution, or engineering consultancy.
