Principal / Associate Electrical – Airport Project Experience

Job Summary

This role leads the electrical design and delivery of complex aviation and industrial buildings, including aircraft maintenance hangars and flight catering environments. It involves overseeing power distribution, ELV systems, and hazardous-area electrical design to meet safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from feasibility through detailed design, tender, and construction support for aviation facilities.
• Develop electrical power strategies for large-scale facilities, managing MV/LV distribution, redundancy, load management, and earthing.
• Engineer electrical systems for hazardous operations ensuring compliance with ATEX/IECEx and coordination with ventilation and controls.
• Design and specify power systems including transformers, generators, UPS, and backup systems for critical operations.
• Integrate electrical utilities across MRO and workshop environments, coordinating with mechanical, fire/life safety, and control systems.
• Design electrical systems for catering facilities with resilient power distribution aligned with HACCP/ISO 22000 standards.
• Lead BIM coordination using Revit and Navisworks, managing clash resolution and model quality assurance.
• Perform electrical calculations and author technical documentation such as BoD, load schedules, single-line diagrams, and commissioning plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional registration such as CEng, PE, or equivalent.
• At least 15 years of experience in electrical building services design including aviation and complex infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and delivering major projects.
• Strong knowledge of international electrical design codes, standards, and aviation requirements.
• Expertise in MV/LV power distribution, load assessments, protection systems, and earthing design.
• Proficiency in BIM and design software including Revit, Navisworks, ETAP, and Dialux.
• Experience with airport facilities, terminal buildings, and aviation infrastructure is highly desirable.
