Senior Data Engineer/Expert/ Specialist

Job Summary

The Senior Data Engineer at SITA is responsible for designing, delivering, and operating secure and reliable data products on Microsoft Fabric. This role transforms complex operations data into trusted information for analytics, reporting, and AI, while setting engineering standards and providing technical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end Microsoft Fabric data architectures including ingestion, layered data processing, and semantic models.
• Manage and optimize Microsoft Fabric capacities, workspaces, access controls, and production environments.
• Design and maintain lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, notebooks, Spark workloads, and reusable data engineering components.
• Create scalable data and Power BI semantic models for Service Operations data such as ServiceNow Asset management and Incident management.
• Develop and maintain metadata-driven ingestion and integration frameworks using SQL, Python/PySpark, APIs, and enterprise connectors.
• Implement CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, alerting, recovery, and technical documentation.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, privacy, and security controls throughout the data lifecycle.
• Provide technical advice to senior stakeholders, lead technical design, and coach junior engineers without formal people management.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform roles with production solution ownership.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or a similar modern lakehouse platform; strong preference for Fabric expertise.
• Experience in enterprise data and semantic modeling, shared-platform operations, CI/CD, and technical design leadership.
• Knowledge of ServiceNow, CMDB/CSDM, IT Service Management, or enterprise operations is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft data platform components including Fabric administration, OneLake, Data Factory, notebooks, Spark, Power BI semantic models, and DAX.
• Strong skills in advanced SQL, Python or PySpark, dimensional and relational modeling, APIs, metadata-driven pipelines, Git/GitHub, CI/CD, testing, and release management.
• Understanding of operations and data governance including monitoring, troubleshooting, resilience, cost optimization, RBAC, managed identities, data quality, metadata, lineage, and auditability.
• Working knowledge of ITIL, Service Operations, ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM, and responsible AI.
• Leadership capabilities including clear communication, stakeholder influence, pragmatic problem solving, coaching, and end-to-end ownership.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related fields.
