Data Engineer

Job Summary

The Data Engineer role involves designing and optimizing data pipelines and analytics infrastructure to support advanced analytics focused on procurement and cost optimization. The position is part of a senior delivery team working on-site in Riyadh.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Snowflake, integrating with DataIQ and Sigma.
• Develop and enhance Python-based data engineering workflows within the client environment.
• Convert procurement and cost-optimization analytics needs into production-ready data solutions.
• Model and structure data to enable advanced analytics and decision intelligence.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and lineage standards throughout pipeline stages.
• Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to clarify requirements and present technical solutions.
• Manage daily delivery of the data workstream, including planning and quality control.
• Work closely with a small senior project team including a data architect and junior data resource.

Requirements

• 8 to 10 years of data engineering experience, preferably including Big 4 or consulting firm background.
• Strong practical experience with Snowflake; familiarity with DataIQ and Sigma Computing is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and pipeline development.
• Experience with procurement, sourcing, or cost-optimization analytics use cases.
• Good understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and data quality practices.
• Ability to work within client technical environments under data sovereignty constraints.
• Effective communication skills with client stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to work on-site in Riyadh full time or hybrid (2-3 days per week).
• Proven track record delivering data engineering workstreams in client-facing consulting projects.
• Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region.
• Availability to start within one month and commit to a 4-6 month contract.

Nice to haves

• Experience specifically with DataIQ or Sigma Computing.
• Background in procurement or sourcing analytics and cost-optimization use cases.
• Experience at a Big 4 firm, global systems integrator, or strategy consulting firm.
• Familiarity with Arabic data sets and working under data residency/sovereignty constraints.
