Job Summary
The VTOL & Propulsion Engineer at AZM in Riyadh will develop propulsion systems for next-generation UAV and VTOL platforms, covering the entire engineering process from concept to testing and validation.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop VTOL and eVTOL propulsion architectures
- Work on electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems
- Develop propellers, rotors, ducted fans, and distributed propulsion solutions
- Analyze vertical-lift and transition-flight performance
- Perform propulsion sizing and performance modeling
- Integrate motors, controllers, batteries, and power electronics
- Manage thermal aspects and optimize energy use
- Conduct ground and propulsion-system testing and prototype validation
Requirements
- Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Strong knowledge of aircraft propulsion and flight fundamentals
- Experience with UAV, VTOL/eVTOL, electric or hybrid propulsion, or experimental aircraft
- Familiarity with engineering analysis, simulation, CAD, or propulsion testing
- Ability to work across disciplines and solve problems from first principles
- Comfortable in an early-stage engineering environment with rapid iteration
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, OpenVSP, SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, Python, or similar tools is valuable
