Senior SATCOM Engineer – Floater

Job Summary

The Senior SATCOM Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting LAN, WAN, and VoIP infrastructures, providing advanced technical support for voice and data networks, and managing satellite communication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for complex enterprise WAN and LAN networks and advanced RF systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues, identifying root causes.
• Monitor and address service requests according to SLAs.
• Assist in developing desktop management policies and procedures.
• Support best practices in network management including configuration, monitoring, patching, and security.
• Operate and maintain satellite communication hardware such as modems, amplifiers, converters, antennas, and power supplies.
• Use Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment beyond Built-In-Test capabilities for maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Manage telecommunications installation supplies and inventory.

Requirements

• Active US Government Secret clearance (Interim acceptable) and US Citizenship.
• Meet DoD 8140 qualification requirements for Network Operations Specialist at Intermediate level.
• Qualifications through education, military training, certifications, or combinations thereof.
• Relevant 8140 credentials include degrees in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related fields, or military communications/network training.
• Relevant certifications include Security+, Cloud+, GCIH, SSCP, GSEC, CEH, GICSP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications.
• Minimum 10 years experience supporting satellite communications systems installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance.
• At least 10 years operating and maintaining tactical satellite systems and related equipment.
• Expertise with commercial and military satellite TDMA/FDMA modems.
• Required certifications: Network+ and Security+.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% to support missions.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred, or Associate degree plus 12 years specialized experience, or certification plus 15 years specialized experience, or 20 years specialized experience.
