Senior FinOps Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior FinOps Engineer at Aspire collaborates with Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Finance, and business teams to oversee cloud expenditures, enhance cost transparency, and find ways to optimize cloud infrastructure expenses. The role focuses on promoting cost-effective cloud operations through analysis, forecasting, governance, and ongoing optimization while supporting FinOps best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Track and evaluate cloud spending, usage, budgets, and cost patterns to spot optimization possibilities.
  • Implement cost-saving measures such as resource rightsizing and eliminating unused or underutilized resources.
  • Handle cost allocation, tagging, budgeting, forecasting, and showback/chargeback processes.
  • Create cloud cost dashboards, reports, and provide actionable recommendations for optimization.
  • Optimize cloud commitment and discount approaches, including Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
  • Detect cost anomalies, budget deviations, and unexpected changes in cloud expenses.
  • Work with Engineering and DevOps teams to integrate cost efficiency into cloud architecture and operations.
  • Set and track FinOps KPIs and continuously enhance FinOps governance, processes, and standards.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, FinOps, or related areas.
  • More than 2 years of practical experience in cloud cost management and optimization.
  • Strong practical knowledge of GCP, including pricing, billing, usage, and cost management.
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools, dashboards, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with required Excel and SQL expertise.
  • Scripting experience is a plus.
  • Good understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure, and services.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, tagging, and showback/chargeback practices.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with technical and business teams to enhance cloud cost efficiency.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner is preferred.
  • Relevant GCP certifications are preferred.
  • Proven record of delivering cloud cost savings and optimization.
  • Improved cloud cost visibility, allocation accuracy, and forecasting.
  • Reduced unused and underutilized cloud resources.
  • Increased adoption of FinOps standards, governance, and cost optimization practices.
  • Awareness or knowledge of IT security best practices as defined by ISO/SOC or similar standards.
