Health Information Specialist

Job Summary

The Health Information Specialist supports the implementation, configuration, optimization, and maintenance of the Hospital Information System (HIS), focusing on Patient Access, Billing, and Revenue Cycle Management. The role bridges business stakeholders, clinical teams, and HIS vendors to ensure successful system deployment and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead HIS PAS, Billing, and RCM modules implementation activities and collaborate with teams to gather and document requirements.
• Review system configurations, participate in workflow analysis, and coordinate with vendors and healthcare departments.
• Support system configuration validation, UAT, integrated testing, data migration, and go-live planning.
• Develop training materials and support end-user training and go-live stabilization activities.
• Provide 2nd-line application support for PAS, Billing, and RCM modules post-implementation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, workflow, and integration issues; manage incidents and service requests.
• Monitor system performance, support upgrades and patches, and participate in change management processes.
• Maintain application documentation, conduct refresher training, and liaise with vendors for issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, accounting, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience implementing and supporting Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
• Hands-on experience with PAS, Billing, and RCM modules.
• Previous HIS implementation and go-live experience.
• Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and patient care processes.
• Experience working in hospital environments.
• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability and integration standards.
• Experience with system testing, UAT, change management, and end-user training.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively across departments and with external vendors; comfortable in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
