Job Summary
Petra Ride is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design and build scalable backend services and APIs for a real-time, two-sided marketplace connecting riders and captains. You will own systems from design to production, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, reliable backend services and APIs
- Build systems supporting real-time rider and captain experiences
- Make strong technical and architectural decisions
- Optimize application and database performance
- Work with databases, caching, queues, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with Product, Mobile, QA, Data, and DevOps teams
Must haves
- 5+ years of Backend Development experience
- Strong experience building production APIs and backend services
- Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, indexing, and optimization
- Experience with system design and scalable architectures
- Experience with caching, queues, and asynchronous processing
- Strong understanding of software design principles and clean code
Nice to haves
- Experience with high-traffic or real-time systems
- Experience in ride-hailing, mobility, marketplaces, fintech, logistics, or delivery
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems
- Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure, and CI/CD
