Frontend Developer & Designer

Job Summary

The Frontend Developer & Designer at Hatch will focus on product design and front-end development within the Digital Practice, contributing to digital transformation projects by combining UX design expertise with AI-assisted workflows and React (TypeScript) development.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end product design including interaction, visual design, prototyping, design QA, and handoff alongside senior designers.
• Extend and maintain design consistency by understanding and building upon existing senior designers’ work.
• Collaborate with senior designers and product managers to deliver design artifacts that support an AI-augmented development team.
• Utilize AI-assisted design and prototyping tools daily to accelerate the creation of clickable prototypes and UI components.
• Contribute front-end UI code in React (TypeScript), starting with component-level and design system contributions.
• Help evolve the product design system to ensure patterns are clear for developers and AI tools.
• Work with product management to refine acceptance criteria and ensure design intent is preserved in the final product.
• Communicate openly about trade-offs, risks, and open items with designers, product, and management.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional design experience with a portfolio showing interaction design, information architecture, and visual design skills.
• Strong proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, variables, auto-layout, and prototyping (Adobe XD experience acceptable if transition to Figma is credible).
• Current hands-on experience with AI design and prototyping tools such as Figma Make, Lovable, v0, Claude, Cursor, or equivalents, with examples of work accelerated or shipped using these tools.
• Active and demonstrable progress in React (TypeScript) front-end development with concrete artifacts like committed code or production UI examples.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system, with understanding of making it usable by AI tooling.
• Experience working in Agile teams alongside engineering and product management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse global stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently after initial direction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education, training, and work experience.

Nice to haves

• Established front-end UI contributions in React and/or Angular with TypeScript in production environments.
• Experience formalizing design tokens and component documentation for AI tooling consumption.
• Experience working with AI-augmented development teams and adjusting design delivery pace accordingly.
• Understanding of various skill sets involved in product delivery including subject matter experts, engineers, and product managers.
