Job Summary

The Senior Data Engineering Manager at Tamara leads a team of senior engineers to deliver and strategize technical solutions across multiple complex product domains. This role involves guiding architectural decisions, managing cross-team dependencies, and partnering with product and business leadership to drive impactful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire senior engineers, aligning technology goals with company vision and product priorities.
• Develop engineering talent, mentor future leaders, and manage team structure, hiring, and performance.
• Drive architectural discussions and improvements in system reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Define delivery plans for multi-team initiatives, manage resources, and resolve complex delivery challenges.
• Collaborate with product and business leaders to influence product strategy and ensure focus on measurable outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment with trust, ownership, and accountability.
• Work closely with peer managers and architecture board to maintain alignment and engineering standards.

Requirements

• At least 4+ years managing engineering teams with experience leading senior contributors and complex projects.
• Experience owning delivery for initiatives involving multiple teams or complex product areas.
• Strong technical background in software development including Java/Go, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Messaging Queues, and Cloud Services.
• Experience leading architectural discussions and shaping technical strategy.
• Ability to partner with product managers to align technical and business objectives.
• Proven skills in mentoring senior engineers and aspiring managers.
• Expertise in Agile methodologies and managing complex cross-team delivery in fast-paced settings.
• Experience in fintech or eCommerce is a strong plus.
